Why yellow crosses attached to soldiers are one step back?
And what is the meaning of the attached yellow vector in soldiers.

The yellow crosses indicate where units cannot walk through. In particular, units themselves always occupy one grid point so units won't bump into each other. The reason you see crosses slightly in front of the moving units is because units always reserve the grid points in advance so other units won't take it while walking towards it.

The small white lines are the curved "micro"-path units follow while moving from one grid point to another.
