When I was replaying the miner's missions for the fun of it, I noticed that the Assassins were weak to Punishers, and Berserkers to Strikers. Do the Africans have low health and high damage, or are they just weak to different Viking axes? What an interesting query indeed...

Good point. Oddlabs gave each tribe's units slightly different strengths and weaknesses, so when you play as Africans, it's not just a change in the way they look, but the way they act. For example, the Viking's iron unit (berserker) is a melée unit, he can only fight up close, whereas the African's iron unit (assassin) is a ranged unit. They also tweaked the other units (as you noticed, some units stronger against one enemy unit, but weaker against another) to encourage players to employ different strategies when playing as different tribes once Africans had been implemented (at least, that was the plan before the world financial meltdown)

Ah. Makes sense, since it wouldn't be exciting if the Africans were exactly as strong as the Vikings, but had different looks :D

I also noticed that the Assassin has the longest throwing range, but he throws slightly slower than other units, while the chicken striker is the direct opposite of the Assassin. Quite interesting stuff :D

Yes, interesting... And what about the Witch Doctor vs. the Lur Blaster? It seems that the Doctors die more easily than the Lurs, as noticed in Sigurd's secret.

Right, but the Witch Doctor's toot is stronger than the lurs roar, because the "gas" is airborn longer than a roar lasts...


Witch Doctor: GOOD
- Thunder Cloud-Kills Men and damages buildings -
- Stinking Stew- Kills Men
- Moves quicker and more actively than the Lur Blaster
-Recovers from stun quicker than the Lur Blaster

Witch Doctor: BAD
- No defensive moves
- Seemingly has less health
-Lightning strike is serial


Lur Blaster: GOOD
- Has defensive move
- Seemingly takes longer to die

Lur Blaster: BAD
- Move slower
- Can be stunned and could die easier...
- Not as cool as Witch Doctor

true, but another bad thing bout the witch doctor; his stew doesn't hurt buildings and the lightning is serial; it hurts one thing at a time while roar can hit many at a time :D

I've always thought the Crackling Cloud & Stinking Stew needed to be tweaked in order to balance the Lur Blaster's abilities. The Crackling Cloud does have the advantage of being able to use it from range, but I think it should either last longer or have a small "blast radius" in that it should damage not only the unit or building it hits, but also the surrounding units as well. Still, it's not a big deal as us TT2ers don't have the ability to use the Witch Doctor yet

Also, Witch Doctor can be stunned, too... but he recovers from it faster than Lur does. Stopwatched em!

What I fear though, due to the looks of TT1 and the new TT2, is that the Natives could possibly still be weaker in multiplayer. Think about it, the fast chicken strikers have one problem. they throw so fast that they throw another spear before the first reaches the viking. Which could be a waste because he couldve died from the first spear. Same with them inside towers. The Native chieftain would not be good with dealing with a group of towers. Sure crackling cloud can get them, but the lur blaster has a stun toot which can save MANY viking warriors when they attack a group of towers. so based on my opinion id say vikings have the upper hand against natives.
